YOU are worth more than rubies. You glow, girl!

Standard

Did you play “dress up” as a kid?  Oh, I bet you did (it’s okay – I did too)!  Seriously, was there anything better than throwing on a tiara (yep, I had to get a crown reference in there…!) or even a cape and flying off to save the world (that one’s for my little buddy, Kieran…) ?  How ‘bout popping on a wig and some crazy clothes and taking on a completely different persona?

OOOooooo doggie – get me my dress up box, STAT!!!

Dress Up

Somehow, our shoulders squared, our spines straightened, our confidence soared, and our minds believed we could do anything – like, ANYTHING – we dreamed.  We rocked.  TOTALLY rocked!

ruby heart

Do you – like me –  ever wish you could play a little game of dress up, especially on those days you can’t quite believe you are who God says we are?  If so, I have some awesomely encouraging news for you!

You already are clothed in a priestly robe that is vastly more valuable than diamonds and rubies.

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people who are God’s own possession. You have become this people so that you may speak of the wonderful acts of the one who called you out of darkness into his amazing light.”  1 Peter 2:9, CEB.

You are worth MORE than rubies to our heavenly Father, dressed up or not!

THIS is who you really are:

john 15 15

He made you so amazing that YOU ARE THE KIND OF PERSON JESUS WANTS TO BE FRIENDS WITH.

You’ve got you some serious glory goin’ on, girl!  You have strengths, skills, and knowledge given to you by God and a mission field of your very own in which to use them.

You are God’s girl, with a specific, divine call to serve your friend, Jesus!

But here’s the scoop: unless you unearth the jewels you’ve been granted and spend some time learning about the field in which you are to let them shine, you’re missing out on who you were made to be.

Here’s what I LOVE about this week’s chapter of our book (Chapter 2 of You’re Already Amazing):

“your strengths + your skills + who you are called to serve = YOU making a difference in the world in your own amazing way”  Holley Gerth, You’re Already Amazing, copyright 2012.

In other words,  we need to operate in the strengths, skills, and mission fields in which God called us – with those He has called us to serve; not what/with whom the world (or our own egos) tell us we should.

So, how do we come to know these things?  Well, we need to be aware of God’s presence and seek His voice!  Without God, it just doesn’t matter.  Your efforts may be galiant, but without God, they are futile.  Without His timing, it’s a lost cause.  Without His guidance and blessing, it’s all just busy-work.

Time spent with God = revelation. You can take that one to the bank.

It’s time we stop trying to “create our own destinies” (which the world tricks us into as believing is the way to go, but is actually a worthless endeavor) and plug back into the destiny for which we were divinely created.  By GOD.

We cannot know what lies ahead, which is why I am so glad we have a God who does!

Ecc 3 11

So, my love bugs, perhaps we don’t need those old dress up boxes anymore (even though we all know I’ve got some crowns stashed away just for fun!).  We can stand tall, dressed in our priestly robes, standing squared shoulder-to-shoulder with one another in radiance, shining His glory wherever He chooses to lead us.  He’s got it all in hand.

Truth is…He sees you.  He really, really sees you.  You are a work of art that the Master of all Creation formed for such a time and place as this.  Use what He gave you, where He leads you to use it, and you will find yourself in the sweet spot of knowing who you were created to be.  Be patient with yourself.  Be kind to yourself.  And no matter what, follow God.

Okay, Amazing Peeps, what’s on the agenda for this week:

If you are following along with our Bible study, here’s what you need to do!

  1.  Rewrite and memorize our scripture of the week:  Ecclesiastes 3:11, ERV.
  2. Have a good, long listen to a great new Christian tune called “One Drop” by Plumb. PLEASE Check it out here, it’s THAT fun to watch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYP5gE-kDjY
  3. Read Chapter Three of You’re Already Amazing and do the” Go Deeper Guide Questions” at the back of the book!
  4. Remember to spend some quality time, every day, with our amazing God!  You’ll be so glad you did!

Up Monday:  A Morning Glory Monday Story you will LOVE!!!

Peace, love, and tons of weekend fun wishes!

  1. Love this post! The song is perfect!

One drop, one random act of kindness, one purposeful turning from self to others or one special moment spent in God’s grace. All lead to the the glory of God lived out in the simple things of everyday life. Each new morning gives us a fresh opportunity to live in His light and share it with the rest of the world.

Thank you for the reminder that we are all missionaries for Christ but not all called to change the ENTIRE world. Change has a ripple effect and even the smallest change can produce great good.

  2. I think you have summed up your ministry right here:

“We can stand tall, dressed in our priestly robes, standing squared shoulder-to-shoulder with one another in radiance, shining His glory wherever He chooses to lead us.” You are helping so many of us to be better people, to take better care of those who stand near us on this journey and to realize our true destiny, to make the world a better place one act of kindness at a time. I am grateful for this message. xo
