Are you looking for a way to lift your faith? Do you crave a way to dive into scripture that makes it meaningful and applicable to your daily life? Does taking a fresh look at your journey with Christ (and learning to live in joy, peace, and contentment in the process) sound exciting?
Well then, come and join fabulous people, just like you, who are thirsty for MORE. More of a personal relationship with Christ through the scripture, fun, and sister friend fellowship! RISE with us!
Oh, and did I mention our study book yet?! Girls, hang on to your sweet little hats! Drum Roll PLEASE….
Stepping Up: A Journey through the Psalms of the Ascent by BETH MOORE! Yep! THAT Beth Moore! As in my BEST-BIBLE-STUDY-FRIEND-BETH (and sadly no, she doesn’t know I exist…at least not YET!).
You heard it here first, sweet friends! Stringing Pearls with Wendie is embarking on our first Beth Moore study and it dovetails perfectly with our 2014 intention to RISE beyond our circumstances into a life filled with joy, peace, and contentment.
This is one cool beans study, sister friends! Filled, as you may expect, with lots of diving deep into scripture and coupled with Beth’s awesome video components, this study will take us places we haven’t been spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually! Add to that weekly blog posts here that will help us to apply what we are learning to our everyday lives, and we think we might just have the perfect series for winter/spring 2014! And we want YOU along for the ride!
And the journey begins the week of January 27, 2014!
So, how do you get in on this adventure? First, get yourself a copy of the member book! You can click this link right here to order it online from lifeway.com.
It’s also available through other online retailers so feel free to surf your way onto their sites, too! If you are local to the Glen Ellyn area, The Bookstore (on Main Street in Glen Ellyn) is also carrying it for us at a 10% of retail price discount! How about that for a little incentive?! Everyone likes a bargain, am I right?!
(BTW – If you are already signed up for one of the three Stringing Pearls with Wendie in-home studies here in Glen Ellyn/Wheaton, then you are all set! I’ve got the videos and all our oh-so-cool-and-awesome “study goodies” all set and we are good to go! Just get ready for the studies to begin the week of 1/27/14! You gals will be getting emails soon with all the juicy details!)
If you aren’t in our area, you can do the study at home by following along with us here on the blog! If you are interested in doing this as a group study, call up some of your sweet sister friends and get them on board to join you! Plan a morning, afternoon, or evening once per week (or even once every-other-week!) when you can gather together to watch the videos and/or discuss the work from the member book. That’s what we are doing here in our three study groups! Then check in here each Thursday for a little something from me about what we’re studying!
Gathering together in groups to spend time in prayer, fellowship, and worship has honestly got to be one of the BEST ways to grow your relationships with GOD and with others! If you have a small-ish group, you can purchase the individual videos straight from Lifeway for $4.99 each and watch them together on your computer screen (or stream to your TV if you have the technology to do so)! Here is the link to the videos:
If you have a larger group and can all pitch in a little cash (they run about $150 for the set), go ahead and purchase the DVDs to show on a larger screen! Here’s a link to get them from Lifeway:
(Please note: while the videos are great and do add a cool dimension to the book, you can do the study without them if you prefer!)
Just so you know, Stepping Up was originally written as a 7-week study, but we will be breaking it down into a 14-week series over a 16-week period. We are busy people, and busy people need options, right?! That means instead of doing 5 days of homework per week as laid out in the member book, we’ll be doing either 2 or 3 days per week. (Don’t worry, I’ll be posting a schedule right here on the blog in the near future so we can all make sure we are all on the “same page”, so to speak!)
Like our previous studies, we will have song recommendations and supplemental reading ideas posted here on the blog, too, that all support our teaching and Beth’s book! I’ll get those up and running next week for you – they are all soooooo awesome!
Throughout this Bible study session, we’ll be focusing on my “RISE” acronym that purposefully leads us into a deeper relationship with God, allowing us to rest in His presence through prayer and thus experiencing PEACE more fully! Here’s a quick look at the acronym! Detailed explanations of each step will be posted here throughout our series!
So, there you have it! I pray you will join us on this exciting series, learning about: God’s faithfulness; how to be content with your life regardless of your circumstances; and moving your mind UP to a better way of living! I CANNOT wait to get started!!!
In summary, if you’re up to this challenge (!), here’s what you need to do:
